The state of Leonida: the regions Rockstar has named

Updated

Beyond Vice City, Rockstar has officially named five more regions of Leonida — the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga, Port Gellhorn, and Ambrosia. A text-only tour of the confirmed geography, and the line where it ends.

Grand Theft Auto VI's world is bigger than one city. Vice City is the confirmed center of gravity, but the state of Leonida stretches well past it — and Rockstar has put names on the record.

Verdict: Confirmed: GTA VI is set in the state of Leonida with Vice City at its center, and Rockstar has officially named five further regions — the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga, Port Gellhorn, and Ambrosia.

The named regions

The officially named geography of Leonida, straight from Rockstar's own materials:

  • Vice City — the state's centerpiece, Rockstar's neon, Art-Deco take on a Florida metropolis
  • the Leonida Keys
  • Grassrivers
  • Mount Kalaga
  • Port Gellhorn
  • Ambrosia

Rockstar pairs each name with its own short description — coastlines and keys, backwaters, mountain country, ports, small-town inland sprawl. That flavor is official, and we pass it along in plain language. What we don't do is stretch a description into geography it never stated.

What "named" does and doesn't mean

A named region is a confirmed fact of a very specific kind: the name and Rockstar's description are established; everything spatial about it is not. No official material lays out where these regions sit relative to each other, how large they are, or how you travel between them. So this tour carries no map, no coordinates, no district layouts, and no size figures — and we don't lean on fan-made map reconstructions to fake that precision, because a speculative map presented as the game world would be exactly the kind of invented certainty this site exists to filter out.

The named set can also grow. Six official names today doesn't mean six regions in the finished game — it means six names on the record so far.

Where this stands

Leonida is real, named, and officially described in broad strokes; its shape is genuinely unknown. If you've seen a detailed map of the state, you've seen someone's guess. Vice City itself — what Rockstar has said about the city proper — is covered in its own briefing.

What changes this: Rockstar officially naming new regions, describing existing ones in more detail, or publishing actual map material. Any of those extends the tour; nothing else does.
