Editions, pre-orders, and pricing: what's official so far

GTA VI's price has been official since the day before pre-orders opened. What people still get wrong is everything around it: which editions exist, what's in the box, and which "deals" are real.

Verdict: Confirmed, Very High confidence. GTA VI costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99 in the US, from Take-Two's own 24 June 2026 announcement, and both console stores list the same prices. The pre-order bonuses, the 12 November pre-load, and a boxed version that contains a download code and no disc are confirmed too. Not announced: any other edition, and prices outside the US on this record. Rockstar's $399.99 Collector's Box is merchandise, sold without the game.

These badges rate the first-party record behind this page: Take-Two's press release, Rockstar's own post and support pages, and the two platform stores.

How much does GTA VI cost?

$79.99 for the game, and $99.99 for the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition. Take-Two announced both prices on 24 June 2026, in the press release that set pre-orders for midnight local time the next day. Rockstar's own post that day named the Ultimate Edition. The PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store list the same two prices, and the Xbox Store also sells an Ultimate Edition Upgrade for $20.00, for anyone who buys the standard game first.

Those are US-dollar prices. This record doesn't track other regions' prices, so check your own store.

Will GTA VI make other games more expensive?

Some developers hope so. Martin Klima, co-founder of Warhorse Studios, the maker of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, told PC Gamer on 1 October that he hopes GTA VI's price "will blaze the trail, and it will allow us to increase the cost". Raising prices "would help a lot, but everybody's scared to death about it," he said, and only Rockstar and Take-Two can "afford, or... dare" to go first. He also said GTA doesn't appeal to him at all. It's one studio's hope, not a forecast.

What's in the GTA VI Ultimate Edition?

Rockstar describes it as "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story", with items "uncovered behind each chapter". Its own GTA VI page lists everything, and has since 24 June:

• Vehicles: a '95 Grotti Cheetah sports car, a Dinka Enduro motorcycle and a Crest kayak, a Shitzu Squalo boat with a weapons crate, a '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, and a retro modkit for Jason's Vapid Ganado pickup.
• Weapons: his-and-hers Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, and engraved versions of Jason's Girardi ES9 and Lucia's Klose K17 pistols.
• Looks: exclusive outfits and tattoos, and a Macca the Gator-themed "Goodtime Gear" collection.
• Five shops that are "only open for business with the Ultimate Edition": the Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie's mod shops, Sara's Unisex Salon, the Stock 305 clothing store, and Electric Fang Tattoo, with over 50 tattoos designed by the artist collective FAILE.
• A garage: the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, with a weapon locker and "a secure place to deposit stolen goods to be fenced".
• Two extra pieces of content: a raid on the PTT Youngin$ gang compound in Southside Vice City, and a "Classic Car Collection" commission from a fixer named Wyman to find and restore project cars.

How the shops, the garage or the two extras play beyond those one-line descriptions, Rockstar hasn't said. The Ultimate Edition is the only other edition Rockstar and Take-Two have announced.

What do you get for pre-ordering GTA VI?

Three things, all from the 24 June announcements:

• the Vintage Vice City Pack, with every pre-order and every purchase before 20 November 2026
• a free month of GTA+ with digital pre-orders; on the PlayStation Store it renews automatically unless you cancel it
• pre-loading from local midnight on 12 November 2026, so the game is downloaded before it unlocks on 19 November

What's in the Vintage Vice City Pack?

A car with a garage, an outfit each and a gun pattern, all nodding to 2002's GTA Vice City. Rockstar's own page lists them:

• A '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and the Shore Court garage near Ocean Beach, which has a weapon locker and "a secure place to deposit stolen goods to be fenced"
• For Jason: a linen suit "in vintage pastel" and a 1980s haircut
• For Lucia: a red sequin mini dress and curls
• A weapon pattern for most guns, based on Tommy Vercetti's palm-tree shirt

It comes with digital and boxed pre-orders alike, and with any purchase made before 20 November.

Does GTA VI come on a disc?

No. The boxed version contains a download code, and Rockstar's support page says so plainly: "A disc will not be included in the box". Boxed copies reach shops on 12 November 2026, a week before launch, so their codes can pre-load too. There's no boxed Ultimate Edition; boxed buyers can buy the upgrade online after redeeming the code.

Two code rules matter if you buy abroad. A PlayStation code only works on an account from the same region group, such as North America or the UK. Xbox codes aren't region-locked. Rockstar's support page doesn't say whether a disc version will ever follow.

Is there a GTA VI Collector's Edition?

Not as an edition of the game. On 24 September 2026 Rockstar announced a Collector's Box of merchandise, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection: eleven collectibles, including a Macca the Gator figure, Oakley sunglasses and a New Era cap. It costs $399.99 in the US, £349.99 in the UK and €399.99 in Europe on the Rockstar Store, one per person while supplies last, and ships from 19 November 2026. Rockstar says the game is sold separately, so it doesn't replace buying GTA VI or the Ultimate Edition. The Collector's Edition briefing has the full list and what the leaked box photos most likely showed.

Is there a GTA VI PS5 controller?

Yes, two. On 3 September 2026, Sony announced two licensed GTA VI DualSense Wireless Controllers on its own PlayStation Blog: a Black Limited Edition and a White Limited Edition, each with a color-shifting Vice City finish and molded palm-tree detailing. Preorders opened 10 September 2026 and both launch 19 November 2026, priced at $84.99 / €84.99 / £74.99 / ¥12,480. The White edition sells globally through direct.playstation.com and participating retailers; the Black edition is exclusive to direct.playstation.com where available, with select retailers carrying it in other regions.

This is Sony's own licensed hardware, confirmed on Sony's own channel. It isn't a game edition or a bundle, and it says nothing about console exclusivity.

How do you spot a fake GTA VI edition or deal?

With the real prices public, fakes are easier to spot:

• The game is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99 on the official stores. A much cheaper "early deal", or a price for an edition that doesn't exist, is a red flag.
• Rockstar and Take-Two have announced two editions. Treat any other edition name as unconfirmed until it appears on Rockstar's own channels or an official platform store.
• Rockstar's Collector's Box has no game in it. A "Collector's Edition" listing that promises the game plus the box isn't something Rockstar sells.
• Buy from the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, the Rockstar Games Store, or a retailer you already trust. Pre-order links in DMs and comment threads are where scams live.
• Screenshots of "leaked" packaging or listings prove nothing on their own. They're easy to fake and hard to verify.

What's still open about buying GTA VI?

Very little. The prices, the two editions, the pre-order bonuses and the pre-load date are all on the record. What isn't: any third edition of the game, and any change to the boxed version's contents. Neither has been announced. The $399.99 Collector's Box is merchandise, not an edition.

What changes this: Rockstar or Take-Two announcing another edition, a price change, or a boxed version with the game on disc. Any of those gets added here the same day.

Correction (19 Sep 2026): earlier versions of this page said GTA VI's editions and pricing had not been announced anywhere official. They had: Take-Two and Rockstar announced both on 24 June 2026, before this page was first published, and we missed it. The earlier claim is kept on the record below, marked contradicted.
