Is GTA VI coming to PC in early 2027? The GamesBeat report, graded

For a year the PC question had one answer: probably, eventually, nobody knows when. On 13 October a report put a window on it, and it's much sooner than Rockstar's history suggests.

Verdict: Rumor, Moderate confidence. GamesBeat reported on 13 October 2026 that Rockstar plans to release GTA VI on PC in the first quarter of 2027, between January and March, citing four anonymous industry sources. Rockstar didn't respond to GamesBeat and hasn't announced a PC version: the official platforms are still PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It's the best-sourced PC report so far, and it's still one report.

What did GamesBeat report about GTA VI on PC?

That Rockstar plans to release the PC version "in the first quarter of 2027", so between 1 January and 31 March. The report, by Alexander Lee, cites "four industry sources familiar with the studio's plans", all of whom asked not to be named to protect business relationships. It says a Rockstar representative didn't respond to a request for comment before publication.

The report names no month, no price and no editions. It also adds that the PC version would still have to pass the same quality bar as the console game before it ships.

How reliable is the GamesBeat report?

Strong for a rumour, and that's the right word for it. GamesBeat is an established games-industry outlet, four sources is more than most reports have, and the window is specific enough to be proved wrong. That's why it rates Moderate, well above the other PC rumours.

But the sources are anonymous, and nobody else has confirmed it with their own reporting. Wccftech, Dot Esports, Beebom, 80.lv and others all repeated GamesBeat's story, so the number of outlets saying it doesn't add anything: it counts once. Rockstar has also moved GTA VI's own release date twice, so a window reported five months out can move too.

Has Rockstar or Take-Two confirmed a PC version?

No. As of 14 October 2026 Rockstar's Newswire had nothing about a PC version, and Rockstar announced GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only.

Some coverage pointed to Take-Two's own release list as evidence against the report. In its 21 May 2026 results, the publisher's table of upcoming games shows GTA VI on "PS5, Xbox Series X|S". But that table is headed as the lineup "announced to-date", and other games in it list PC only once PC is announced. It confirms that no PC version had been announced in May. It doesn't show that none is planned before Take-Two's financial year ends on 31 March 2027.

How fast would a Q1 2027 PC release be?

Much faster than any recent Grand Theft Auto or Red Dead game. The console version launches on 19 November 2026, so a PC release between January and March would follow it by between about six weeks and four months. Here's how long PC players waited before:

• GTA IV: about seven months (April to December 2008).
• GTA V: about 19 months (September 2013 to April 2015).
• Red Dead Redemption 2: about 13 months (October 2018 to November 2019).

GTA V's wait is the one most people remember, and it's the longest of the three.

Does this mean the February 2027 PC date was right?

No. February sits inside the reported window, but GamesBeat names no month. The February 2027 date came from a leaker who said three of about 90 former Rockstar staff contacted on LinkedIn named it, and that chain is as weak as it was. It rises from 10 to 15 only because the window around it became more likely. Still Very Low.

Why would Rockstar release GTA VI on PC sooner?

Rockstar hasn't said it will, so this is other people's reasoning. GamesBeat argues that PC players are a large audience for a very expensive game, and that PC is where GTA roleplay lives: Rockstar bought the team behind the FiveM roleplay servers in 2023, and FiveM runs only on PC. In September, VGC's Andy Robinson said there was "a bit of noise" about Rockstar pushing the PC version up, and linked it to high console prices.

Those two came from different places and point the same way, which is why "sooner than usual" is now the best-supported PC rumour, at Moderate. A first-quarter release is the most specific version of it.

Will the PC version be announced before the console launch?

Not necessarily. A release in the first three months of 2027 doesn't need an announcement before 19 November. Our prediction ledger staked 85% in July that no PC version would be officially announced by launch day. This report doesn't settle that either way: an announcement in December or January would still fit it.

What changes this: A PC announcement from Rockstar or Take-Two, or a PC platform appearing in Take-Two's next results. Another outlet confirming the window with its own sources would raise it. A PC release by 31 March 2027 vindicates it; 31 March passing without one contradicts it.
