When is GTA VI coming to PC and Switch 2? The port rumours, graded

No PC or Switch 2 version of GTA VI is announced. The PC rumours range from a VGC journalist hearing 'a bit of noise' about an earlier port to a February 2027 date from three former staff. Several insiders say Rockstar has tested Switch 2, but none of it is official. Graded: Rumor, Low.

GTA VI launches on two platforms. The questions start with the third and fourth: when does it reach PC, and will it ever run on Nintendo Switch 2?

Verdict: Rumor, Low confidence. Rockstar has announced GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. The best-supported PC rumour is VGC's Andy Robinson hearing that the port could come sooner than past Rockstar games did (Low). The February 2027 PC date is much weaker (Very Low). For Switch 2, several insiders say Rockstar has at least tested the game on it (Low). None of it is official.

These badges rate the rumours on this page. Whether a PC version is officially announced, and why we expect one eventually, is covered in its own briefing.

Is GTA VI coming to PC?

Not officially, yet. Rockstar's pre-order announcement names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and nothing else. Rockstar's big open-world games have reached PC before, typically about a year after their console launch, which is why a PC version is widely expected. Expected isn't announced.

Will GTA VI come to PC sooner than usual?

That's the most credible PC rumour, and it's still soft. On the VGC Podcast on 4 September 2026, VGC's Andy Robinson said: "I do think they'll push the PC version up. There's a bit of noise about that." He linked it to rising console prices and likely shortages around launch.

Robinson is a well-connected reporter, which is why this rates higher than the rest. But he named no source and framed it partly as his own view. Two outlets repeated the remark, and both got it from the same podcast, so it counts once.

Is the GTA VI PC release date February 2027?

There's no good reason to think so. The date comes from DetectiveSeeds, who said in April 2026 that he contacted about 90 former Rockstar employees on LinkedIn and three of them named February 2027, adding that it could shift.

Former staff may not know current plans, three answers is a tiny sample, and the account has a mixed record. A separate May 2027 PC date came from the anonymous post that also predicted a delay, and that post's main claim failed.

Did Take-Two's CEO hint at an early PC release?

No, whatever the headlines said. Asked about the cadence of PC launches at Take-Two's shareholder meeting on 17 September 2026, Strauss Zelnick said the company generally launches "for any platforms for which there's a meaningful audience", and that PC is becoming "more and more important" to the company. He gave no date, no window, and no sign that the usual gap would shrink. Some coverage read a hint into that. The words themselves don't contain one.

Is GTA VI coming to Nintendo Switch 2?

Possibly, eventually, and that's as far as the evidence goes. The idea has three sources:

  • November 2025: insiders Nash Weedle and NateTheHate said Rockstar was testing how GTA VI runs on Switch 2, and cautioned that a test isn't a port.
  • June 2026: Nash Weedle said the technical problems had been solved, specialists had been brought in, and the port wouldn't be ready in 2026.
  • September 2026: a document from the French retailer Cdiscount listed GTA VI editions for Switch 2, alongside PS5 and Xbox.

NateTheHate has a strong record on Rockstar's timing, but what he described was testing. Nash Weedle is less established, and retailer documents often carry placeholder listings. Rockstar has named only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

When will GTA VI actually come to PC?

Nobody outside Rockstar has said. Precedent says roughly a year after consoles. The most credible rumour says sooner. The one specific date in circulation has very little behind it. Until Rockstar announces a PC version, those three are all there is.

What changes this: An official PC or Switch 2 announcement from Rockstar or Take-Two. A PC release before 19 November 2027 would vindicate the "sooner" rumour; February 2027 passing without one closes the February claim.
