Can you enter 70% of buildings in GTA VI? The interiors rumours, graded
How many buildings can you enter in GTA VI? Rockstar won't give a number, but it says it's a lot: 'a huge number', in Rob Nelson's words. The two figures in circulation, 70% of all buildings and 700-plus stores, come from a 2023 leaker with a mixed record and from GameRoll, whose other claims mostly came true. Both graded.
Every GTA has a skyline full of locked doors. The question for GTA VI is how many of them open, and there are two numbers going round.
Verdict: Confirmed: Rockstar says GTA VI has far more interiors than before, "a huge number", without giving a figure. Rumor, Moderate confidence: more than 700 enterable, robbable stores, from GameRoll, whose other GTA VI claims mostly came true. Rumor, Low confidence: 70% of all buildings enterable, from a 2023 leaker with a mixed record.
How many buildings can you enter in GTA VI?
A lot, by Rockstar's account, though it won't say how many. "You can enter a lot of buildings, a lot, a huge number," Rob Nelson, Rockstar North's head of development, told the French magazine TROISCOULEURS while playing the game. Aaron Garbut told Game Informer the studio "hit a critical mass with the numbers of our interiors", to the point that buildings feel "more real inside and out."
Rockstar also says you can rob almost any shop you walk into, which implies a great many enterable stores. Neither statement is a count or a percentage.
Can you enter 70% of buildings in GTA VI?
Unlikely to be that simple. The 70% figure comes from an account that posted an off-screen recording of early GTA VI footage days before the first trailer in December 2023. Its other claims are a mixed bag:
- Right: a map about twice the size of GTA V's, which Rockstar now says itself.
- Wrong: a Fall 2024 release, and pre-orders opening right after the trailer.
- Unverified: three major cities and four sub-cities. Rockstar has named one city, Vice City, plus regions.
A single percentage for a whole state is also hard to define: does a beach hut count, or a skyscraper with one enterable lobby? We grade it a rumor at Low confidence, and don't name or link the account.
Are there 700 stores you can enter in GTA VI?
Possibly, and this one has a better source. In June 2025 GameRoll said a source close to a Rockstar developer told him GTA VI has more than 700 enterable "stores", including malls, all of which can be robbed. He added that he wasn't sure what his source counted as a store, and that it might include anything you can buy from, down to vending machines.
GameRoll's record is the reason to take it seriously. In September 2026 Kotaku checked his June 2025 list against what Rockstar had since shown and said, and much of it held up: six wanted stars, greeting and antagonising people, limits on carrying guns, weight gain and loss, and a story told in chapters. Some of his claims remain unconfirmed. We grade the 700 figure a rumor at Moderate confidence: the picture matches Rockstar's, the number is unverified.
Can you go inside houses in GTA VI?
Rockstar hasn't said. GameRoll's source said house burglaries aren't in the game. The interiors Rockstar has shown or described are shops, bars, clubs, gyms and the characters' own homes. Whether ordinary houses open up is something the released game will answer.
Is GTA VI's interior count really bigger than GTA V's?
Yes, on Rockstar's word, and that's the part to rely on. The specific numbers in circulation are someone's estimate or someone's source. Rockstar's own description, a huge number and a critical mass, is the only one on the record.
What changes this: Rockstar giving a number, or the released game on 19 November 2026, when players will count them within days.
