Is Gloriana a second state in GTA VI? The licence-plate rumour, graded

GTA VI's second trailer shows car plates from 'Gloriana', a name fans read as the game's Georgia, and some headlines called it confirmation of a second state. It isn't. Rockstar's named regions are all in Leonida, the same trailer has Liberty City plates, and the story of Rockstar buying back a Gloriana web domain has one source. What the plates show, what they don't, and the grades.

Rockstar's trailers reward freeze-framing, and one frame of Trailer 2 has kept people busy since May 2025: a car plate that doesn't say Leonida.

Verdict: Confirmed: Trailer 2 shows licence plates from a state called Gloriana, as well as Liberty City. Speculation, Very Low confidence: Gloriana is a place you can visit in GTA VI. Rumor, Low confidence: Rockstar paid a fan about $2,000 for a Gloriana web domain. Rockstar has never mentioned Gloriana.

The badges on this page rate the plates in the trailer, the strongest fact here, not the theory that Gloriana is a place you can go.

What is Gloriana in GTA VI?

A name on a licence plate. In Trailer 2, released on 6 May 2025, fans spotted cars with plates from Gloriana alongside the usual Leonida ones, and others from Liberty City. Gloriana reads as GTA's version of Georgia, the state north of Florida: the name comes from a title for Queen Elizabeth I, as Georgia's comes from King George II, and fans say the plate design looks like Georgia's. That's all that is on screen.

Is Gloriana playable in GTA VI?

Nothing says so. GAMINGbible's headline at the time said the trailer "quietly confirms multiple States for us to explore", but a plate is a plate. The same trailer has Liberty City plates, and nobody expects to drive to Liberty City. Out-of-state cars are a normal sight in Florida, and a detailed world would have them.

What Rockstar has published points to one state. Its named regions, Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga, Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia, are all in Leonida, and its own size comparison, about twice GTA V's map, describes Leonida. Speculation, Very Low confidence.

Did Rockstar buy a Gloriana web domain?

Possibly, but one story is all there is. In January 2026 a fan said a middleman had bought the Gloriana domain they'd registered as a joke, first offering about $600 and settling at about $2,000, and that the domain then moved to MarkMonitor, the registrar Rockstar and Take-Two use. GTA BOOM reported it; nobody has confirmed the buyer, and Rockstar hasn't commented.

Even if it's true, it's weak evidence. Publishers register their in-game place names to protect them, including ones that never become playable. Protecting a name says nothing about where you can go. Rumor, Low confidence.

Is Mount Kalaga in Gloriana?

No. Some fans point out that Mount Kalaga looks like Georgia's Providence Canyon, but Rockstar names Mount Kalaga as one of Leonida's regions. Looking like Georgia doesn't put it in a different state.

Could Gloriana be added to GTA VI later?

Anything could be added later, and GTA Online has grown its map before. But no announcement, listing or statement mentions Gloriana or a second state. The map-expansion briefing grades the wider rumours about Liberty City and other locations arriving after launch.

So does GTA VI have a second state?

Not on anything Rockstar has shown or said. Leonida is the setting; Gloriana is where some of its cars come from.

What changes this: Rockstar naming Gloriana as a place in the game or an expansion, or the released game on 19 November 2026.
