How much does GTA VI cost where you live?

GTA VI has no single price. Take-Two announced $79.99 for the US; everywhere else the price is whatever the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store in your country lists, in local currency: £69.99 in the UK, €79.99 across the euro area, CAD 109.99 in Canada, Rs 5,999 in India, JPY 9,800 in Japan. We read every listing on 21 October 2026, with what each price counts in tax, where PlayStation and Xbox disagree (Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Saudi Arabia) and what Take-Two says about why it costs $80.

Illustration: antique brass balance scales on a wooden table at the end of a marina dock at sunset, a boxed PS5 game with a Grand Theft Auto VI-style cover on one pan and a heap of euro-style coins on the other, a globe, a compass and a map beside them, yachts and palms behind

There is no one GTA VI price. Take-Two announced $79.99 for the US, and everywhere else the price is whatever your country's PlayStation Store or Xbox Store says: in local currency, with tax counted in some countries and not in others.

Verdict: Confirmed, Very High confidence, as a snapshot of 21 October 2026. The store listings show $79.99 in the US, £69.99 in the UK, €79.99 across the euro area, CAD 109.99 in Canada, AUD 129.95 in Australia, Rs 5,999 in India and JPY 9,800 in Japan for the Standard Edition, with the Ultimate Edition priced higher in each. PlayStation and Xbox list the same price in 34 of the 40 markets where both sell the game. In six they don't: Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Whether a price includes tax depends on the country and on the store. Not announced: any regional price list from Rockstar or Take-Two themselves. Not confirmed: what Xbox's Mexican price comes to after tax.

Check: Prices checked on 21 October 2026, one store page per country. Store prices are live data and can change without notice, so check your own store before you buy. We don't convert currencies: the numbers below are what the stores list.

How much does GTA VI cost in the US?

$79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Take-Two gave those two figures, in US dollars, in its 24 June 2026 press release, and both console stores list them. Sales tax is added at checkout, because Sony's and Microsoft's US terms say listed prices exclude it.

That US price is the only one Take-Two or Rockstar has stated themselves. Rockstar's GTA VI page and its Newswire post show no price in any currency, so every other number on this page comes from a store listing. What the $20 between the editions buys is in the Ultimate-versus-Standard briefing.

How much does GTA VI cost in the UK and Europe?

£69.99 in the UK, and one price across the euro area: €79.99 for the Standard Edition and €99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Countries outside the euro each have a price in their own currency, and PlayStation and Xbox list the same number in every one where both sell the game. In all of them Sony's terms say the displayed price includes VAT.

In the Tax column, "Included" means Sony's terms say the PlayStation price includes VAT or GST, "Added" means they say sales tax is added at checkout, and "Unclear" means Sony's terms for that country don't say.

"Other euro-area countries" means Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia and Slovenia, all of which list the same euro price on the PlayStation Store. The Xbox Store has no page for Bulgaria or Romania. In Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania we found no listing on 21 October: the PlayStation addresses show the US store, and the Xbox Store returns "not found".

How much does GTA VI cost in Canada and Brazil?

CAD 109.99 and CAD 139.99 in Canada, and BRL 449.90 and BRL 549.90 in Brazil, the same on both console stores. In both, the terms of Sony and Microsoft say tax is added at checkout, so the amount you pay is higher than the number on the page.

How much does GTA VI cost in Mexico, Argentina and Colombia?

It depends on the store. On the PlayStation Store, Mexico lists pesos and Argentina and Colombia list US dollars; the Xbox Store lists local currency in all three.

CountryPlayStation (Standard / Ultimate)Xbox (Standard / Ultimate)
MexicoMXN 1,292.24 / 1,619.83, before IVAMXN 1,499 / 1,879
Argentina$79.99 / $99.99 in US dollarsARS 113,299 / 141,990
Colombia$79.99 / $99.99 in US dollarsCOP 339,900 / 424,900
Chile$79.99 / $99.99 in US dollarsCLP 74,990 / 93,990

Mexico's two numbers differ by exactly 16%, the rate of Mexico's IVA, its value-added tax. Sony's terms say its listed prices exclude tax and that tax is added when you complete the purchase, and 1,292.24 plus 16% is 1,499.00, Xbox's price, with the same match on the Ultimate Edition. That points to Xbox listing the price with tax in, but Microsoft's Mexican terms say store prices exclude taxes "unless stated otherwise", and we haven't seen an Xbox checkout, so the total on Xbox is not confirmed.

The PlayStation number has also moved. Sony began showing pesos on 20 August 2026, after years of dollars in Mexico, Honduras and Nicaragua. A Mexican outlet reported that day that the Standard Edition showed 1,378.45 pesos; the store lists 1,292.24 now.

In Argentina, Colombia and Chile the PlayStation price is a dollar price, with tax added at checkout. The same dollar listing is on the PlayStation Store for Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, El Salvador and Uruguay. Honduras (HNL 2,109 and 2,639) and Nicaragua (NIO 2,939 and 3,669) list local currency. The Xbox Store has no page for Peru, Costa Rica or the Central American countries we tried. The tax and bank charges a buyer in each country ends up paying aren't on the pages and aren't recorded here.

How much does GTA VI cost in India?

Rs 5,999 for the Standard Edition and Rs 7,499 for the Ultimate Edition, on both the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store. The Xbox Store's Ultimate Edition Upgrade is Rs 1,500, the gap between the two. Sony's Indian terms say the displayed price includes VAT and equivalent taxes.

Don't look for it on Rockstar's pages: its GTA VI page and Newswire post state no price in any currency. The rupee price is on the store pages.

How much does GTA VI cost in Australia, Japan and the rest of Asia-Pacific?

Every market has its own local price: AUD 129.95 in Australia, NZD 139.95 in New Zealand, Rs 5,999 in India, JPY 9,800 in Japan for the Standard Edition. In each market below where both stores sell the game, PlayStation and Xbox list the same number.

The Philippines and Vietnam have no listing of their own: the PlayStation addresses for them show the US store, and the Xbox Store has no page for them either. "Unclear" means Sony's terms for that country don't say whether the displayed price includes tax.

How much does GTA VI cost in the Middle East and Africa?

South Africa and Israel list the same price on both stores; Saudi Arabia and the UAE don't.

CountryStandardUltimateNote
South AfricaZAR 1,499ZAR 1,899Tax included on PlayStation
IsraelILS 319ILS 399Same on both stores

UAEAED 299.16 on PlayStation, $79.99 on XboxAED 373.96 on PlayStation, $99.99 on XboxXbox lists US dollars

Neither store explains the small Saudi gap or the UAE's different currency. We found no GTA VI listing for Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman or Lebanon on 21 October.

Does the GTA VI price include tax?

Depends on the country, and on the store. Sony's terms say the PlayStation Store price includes VAT in the UK, the euro area, the rest of Europe we checked, Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and excludes sales tax, added at checkout, in the US, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Chile. Microsoft's terms of sale follow the same split where we read them: Store prices exclude taxes in the US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil and include them in the UK, Spain and Australia, "unless stated otherwise".

So the US $79.99 is before sales tax, and the euro €79.99 is after VAT. Neither is the whole story, and we haven't worked out final totals: your cart shows the real one.

Why do PlayStation and Xbox show different prices in some countries?

For three reasons in the record, and one with no stated reason. Tax display explains Mexico: PlayStation lists the price before IVA and Xbox's number is 16% higher. Currency explains Argentina, Colombia and Chile: PlayStation lists dollars there, Xbox lists pesos, because Sony only moved Mexico, Honduras and Nicaragua to local currency on 20 August. Neither store explains Saudi Arabia, where the stores differ by a few riyals, or the UAE, where Xbox lists dollars. Everywhere else the numbers are identical.

Why does GTA VI cost $80?

Take-Two's answer is that AAA games cost less in real terms than they did 20 years ago, and that it isn't trying to charge the most. Asked about the $80 price on its 7 August 2026 earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick said the real cost of a AAA video game is "a whole lot lower today than it was 20 years ago", that "pricing has not kept pace with inflation", that GTA VI "will be an incredible bargain as experiences go" and that "Our goal is not to maximize price."

That is Take-Two's argument, and we haven't checked its claim about AAA prices. Another voice on the same subject is Martin Klima, co-founder of Warhorse Studios, who hopes GTA VI's price "will blaze the trail" for other studios to raise theirs. Neither is a forecast of what other games will cost.

Is GTA VI cheaper in some countries?

A lower number isn't a cheaper game, and the page can't say which is cheaper for you. In the UK the number is lower than the US one (£69.99 against $79.99). In the euro area it's the same number as the dollar price (€79.99 against $79.99), but the euro price includes VAT and the US price doesn't. Turning one into the other needs the exchange rate on the day you buy, which moves, and a conversion doesn't show what the price means against what you earn locally. This page doesn't compare affordability, and it isn't financial advice.

Buying from another country's store is limited. A PlayStation code only works on an account from the same region group, and Xbox codes aren't region-locked. Microsoft's terms say you may not use a VPN or similar tools to obscure your location when you buy.

Will GTA VI prices change before launch?

No change has been announced, but store prices are live data. The Mexican PlayStation price moved between 21 August and 21 October, and a store can change a price without a notice. A later update to this page has to read every listing again, with the date.

What's still open about GTA VI prices?

Whether Xbox Mexico's price is the final total; why Saudi Arabia's and the UAE's prices differ; what the countries we found no listing for, such as the Baltic states and the Philippines, will pay; and whether any store changes a price before 19 November.

What changes this: A store changing a price, a new regional listing appearing, Sony or Microsoft explaining the Mexican, Saudi or Emirati differences, or Rockstar or Take-Two announcing regional prices themselves. Each of them gets added here the day we see it, with the date we read it.
